Road has two important functions: “traffic” and “space” functions that should be developed comprehensively. It is necessary to develop roads and open spaces, etc. with good range of space function in order to support comfortable living condition and to develop senior-friendly living environment. We examine the concept for road development focusing on the space function, and also the measures to create public spaces.
